Thin Film Tribology

Thin film tribology looks at the effects of friction and wear on coatings intentionally applied on a material for special surface mechanical properties. Such information can help optimize system performance and service life, as well as identify the failure mechanisms of mechanical components and hence improving reliability and lowering maintenance costs.

ASMAC's can help you gain better control over wear and friction by running four major tests, namely indentation test, scratch test, wearing testing and thickness measurement. Information generated by such testing will provide fundamental tribological properties of the coatings to assist you in the design and development of new products and improvement of existing processes or products; to optimize materials, products, lubrication and maintenance; and to solve mechanical problems such as seizure, wear or excessive noise.
